On January 2nd 2019 Moreza walked into Day 1 of the BCPTI personal training program looking for his purpose. From our 7 week program to this 7 month update, here’s his story.
Part One – beginning of class
“Hello, my name is Moreza. I’m originally from Tehran, Iran. My dad got me into working out when I was fourteen and ever since I looked at working out as a good way to balance my energy throughout the day and also to manage stress. Working out and being active made me realize how interesting it can be to follow a routine and work on yourself. I’ve been in Vancouver for three years now and I love being active and making the most of my day by either going to the gym or doing outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and canoeing. We are so lucky to have all of this close by in BC! And, in fact, getting outside and challenging myself has kept me energized and motivated for exercising at the gym to keep myself in shape. I’m excited to have joined this great team of professionals at BCPTI. I am going to certified as a personal trainer and work to transfer my passion for exercise to other people. In the first week of the program so far, I have noticed how positive and energized the instructors are, like they really love their work. It’s also been really cool to see how much variety there has been in the first few workouts! I’ve already learned several things I want to try in my own workouts.”
Part Two – mid-way through class
“In order to be a successful trainer, I want to gain more experience and keep working on my own body & program. I think it’s important to have a healthy lifestyle and be a good role model. Working out has always been the highlight of my day and the time I put aside every day to challenge myself and prioritize my health and fitness means I am walking my talk. Being a certified trainer, I want to help people who are new to working out so that they learn how to do it properly. I also want to work with older clients who maybe used to workout but then stopped. Whether it’s providing motivation or support to get them back to exercising, working on posture, getting healthier – I know they will feel much better and feel the difference it makes to eat healthy and exercise regularly. I know it will be challenging to get started because at first, no one will know me or what I can do to help them. But I am willing to work hard for my passion and help people feel better about themselves. I dream of being a professional, surrounded by other people who love the same work and making a difference for the people I help. This is what I’m going to focus on as I get started.”
Part Three – after working as a personal trainer for 3 months
“It’s been a long journey filled with ups and downs, motivation and moments of doubts, lessons and reminders. But I really think this was what I needed at this point in my life to realize what I’m about and what I want to pursue for the rest of my life! As they say, a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step, and for me that step was walking into your office and signing up for the personal training certification program. You know what? At the time, I wasn’t even 100% sure what it was going to be like. But the more I went along, the more confident I became about my decision and what being a personal trainer was going to be like. When I finished the 7-week program, I was ready for the next step – a bit nervous but also excited. I thought about helping people achieve their goals and helping them to feel better every day. It made me feel really alive to go to work every day with that purpose in mind. I remember the day I realized it – that I’d found my purpose. And now there’s no way any little bump in the road is going to stop me. It’s been over 6 months since that first day of class and I’m loving every minute of it. I am more eager, more confident and even more excited to see how this continues to grow. I’m super grateful for the help and encouragement I received in the program and after – I was actually a little surprised at how much continued support and education I received even after graduating from the program. Thank you for the opportunities you made available – I am putting in my very best effort to inspire my clients and connect with people who share my passion!”
