JOSH RUSSELL

Program Facilitator

PTA Global Certified Personal Trainer
National Academy of Sports Medicine Corrective Exercise Specialist & Performance Enhancement Specialist

Josh was an athlete from an early age, playing many sports including soccer, rugby, lacrosse and football. He enjoyed both the physical challenge and the group camaraderie. He also progressed into a coaching role by working with a minor league football team in White Rock, helping develop the strength, maturity and discipline of the 36 team members over the course of 4 years.

When Josh stopped playing competitive sports and got into working and college, he realized that he would need to find a way to stay fit & healthy and so he ended up going to the gym with a friend who was pursuing his personal training certification. This was such a great experience that Josh ended up deciding to also get certified and he quickly found that his love of sport was a valuable passion to fuel his personal training career.

Josh found a natural understanding of the balance between the science of training and the importance of building successful relationships with members, clients and coworkers. Thanks to a few mentors, he progressed quickly into full-time training and started to learn about club management. Josh worked as a Fitness Manager for Steve Nash Fitness Clubs until he was offered an opportunity to join the Education Team for that same organization. Working with the next generation of passionate fitness professionals was where he truly found his calling.

Now, Josh works as a highly sought-after Personal Trainer at the Fitness World Semiahmoo location and he works closely with Logan at BCPTI to run the Personal Training Certification. He is also the Lead Instructor for the NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist certification and he delivers a lot of the content that you see on the website and on social media.

Josh is an exceptional mentor, connecting with and supporting prospective students and graduates alike. He lives in South Surrey with his wife, German Shepard and soon, a new baby boy! He loves to read and get out on his bike whenever he can!
